I have studied interactions between windthrows, bark beetle outbreak and management in the High Tatra Mts. and found that salvaging of beetle killed trees did not help to stop the outbreak. Other questions remains, about how to optimize salvage logging of windthrown trees, and where we should not salvage at all and focus on other ecosystem services and biodiversity.

And, how to manage our forests not only for timber, but for all other benefits.
